Fairytale Table

Niels van Eijk and Miriam van der Lubbe are designers based in Amsterdam and have been creating fireplaces out of fibers, interior design, glass fiber lace lamps, gun art out of flowers, and this kick-ass table shown above. The American Nut wooden table was created as part of The Droog Collective's exhibition Smart Deco for Design Miami in 2006. The designers laser printed pictures from an Indonesian Frog Prince fairytale on half of the table, and then four master wood carvers cut coconuts, lily pads, and tadpoles deep into the wood. It took the four men two weeks to complete their half of the table. It's freaking amazing! And $30,000.
